PHOTOGRAPHY AS COLLABORATIVE ACTION
JUNE 2018
MENIER GALLERY
UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH / BA PHOTOGRAPHY
Krasimira Butseva and Lina Ivanova were invited to deliver a workshop on collaboration to students and graduates from the University of Portsmouth.
Participants were divided into small groups and asked to collaborate for a limited amount of time in the making of a body of work, based on recent news headlines, using their phone cameras, newspapers, the internet, the gallery space and the local area.
This exercise aimed to challenge participants’ trust in each other to make work in collaboration, ‘on the spot’, in an automatic way, relying on instantenious responses to the words they were given.
The work was installed on the street outside the gallery in the form of an impromptu pop-up show with an activist nature.
